Why the number varies

Priced per site, so a plan with several implants can carry several graft charges. These are the socket-graft figures, which is the graft D7953 describes: bone placed into an empty socket to preserve the ridge. Graft is a broad word and the price follows the type. The same source puts a ridge expansion at $2,511 on average ($1,940 to $4,559) and gives $549 to $5,148 as the span across all graft types, so a quote well above the range here is not automatically wrong: check which graft is on the plan.

Nothing on this page is a quote. Implant pricing varies by practice, and the only figure that matters to you is the one on a written treatment plan after an examination. Getting more than one is the single most effective thing you can do about the cost.

Ask for the treatment plan in writing, with the CDT code against every line.
Check whether the quote covers the post, the abutment and the crown, or only some of them.
Ask what is not included: extraction, grafting, imaging, and sedation are often billed separately.
